Dial up not working on MSN
Hello all.
I feel stupid asking this, but I am totally outta ideas! I have an MSN dialup account that I can get to work just fine with windows dialup networking. but I cant get it to work on my linux laptop. Im using a USR courier 56k modem on /ttyso no problems getting the modem to dial. Ive tired to use ppp-go,wvdial,minicom,you name it. I have tried scripts and everything. I just cant get it to connect right. When I connect with minicom I get connected and it askes for the username and password, then when I supply them it seem to try and start ppp, it even says that I got an ip address. So I think that the problem is with my PPP. I have dialed up with linux before, but never had to mess with PPP that much. I guess Im just looking for help. I dont know if msn uses PAP or CHAP, I think it uses CHAP, but its funny in minicom I can type the username/password plain text and get connected, but scripts dont really seem to work. Im lost!:Pengy: |
Do you mean /dev/ttyS0, perhaps? :p
Check it out with commands. See Troubleshooting ISP Connection Problems, but monitor responses with tail -f /var/log/messages rather than tail -f /var/log/ppp as mentioned in the article. |
