Dial-up internet sharing through SuSE

I'm no newbie to Linux, but I don't use dial-up internet access at home.

I am trying to set up a server for a non-profit with low, but not non-existent internet access needs. We have an external modem that works, but I can't get the sharing to operate. I'm using SuSE 9.1.

you'll have to set up a firewall with iptables not letting everybody in (see netfilter.org for docu), enable forwarding of packets (echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip-forward) and tell the clients to use your box as gateway
for short...

oh ..i forgot: you'll need nat for the inside boxes:
iptables -A POSTROUTING -t nat -o "out_interface" -j SNAT --to "ip_to_outside"
