dhcp6 client and server

Okay I have Enterprise SUSE and I have dhcp6s server working.

I am trying to start dhcp6 client on opensuse 11.2 from the command line.

I am running the command...

Code:

dhcp6c eth1

But that doesn't do anything. No error, no nothing, just skip to the next line.

When I do an ifconfig there is no ipv6 address.

If I use YAST to turn on dhcp6, I do indeed get ipv6 ip addresses.

It is when I run the dhcp6c eth1 command that doesn't work.

What am I doing wrong?

Are you sure nothing happens? A trace with Wireshark should show some traffic going to the DHCP server - unless of course you have a firewall that might interfere.

Do you get anything else than the link local address (shown as "Scope:Link" by ifconfig)? It is created automatically by the system.
