dhcp server status if "not running'

ubuntu 7.04

dhcp3-server is on and working - all windows clients are able to get their ip addresses

however , [KDE] system settings -> system services shows dhcp3-server as "not running" although enabled to start at boot

ps ax | grep dhcp does show dhcp running

why is this so ?

I don't know, but if KDE says something and the cli shell says another thing, you should trust on the cli shell.
