dhcp not working for fc4 on dell dimension desktop
I recently removed win98 from my Dell Dimension XPS T450 desktop (yea...finally) and installed fc4. At this time I am unable to obtain an IP address from my dhcp router. I can, however, obtain an IP address for my laptop which I am currently using to post.
I looked over several posts without finding anything particularly useful. I am hoping that someone will recognize the problem as I am relatively new to Linux. Here are some useful outputs. Thanks in advance. Fair warning, I will try to reply as soon as possible but I am not around my desktop except during the evenings and weekends. # dhclient eth0 [Nothing happens] # route Kernal IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface 169.254.0.0 * 255.255.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo # ifconfig eth0 eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:BA:5E:5F:A4 inet6 addr: fe::250:baff:fe5e:5fa4/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:78 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0b) TX bytes:20016 (19.5 KiB) Interrupt:11 Base address:0x1000 # dmesg | grep -e eth0 eth0: RealTek RTL8139 at 0x1000, 00:50:ba:5e:5f:a4, IRQ 11 eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8139C' eth0: link up, 100Mbps, full-duplex, lpa 0x45E1 eth0: noIPv6 routers present # lsmod | grep 8139 8139too 30017 0 mii 5441 1 8139too |
Try resetting the router.

I'll be damned. I thought I had tried every permutation of shutting off my computer and router. To think I have spent so much time sifting through forums...
Thanks. |
