dhcp networking not assigning address
 

I've got a new install of Fedora Core 3. I've got a DLink-DI624 router that works with other wireless boxes on my network.

The router appears to be doing its job. For example, the "wire test" "sees" the box and after the fedora box boots, the router has it listed by MAC address under DHCP as having given it an IP address.

The fedora box can't see out and I see nothing that would indicate that it actually "got" the IP address the router gave up. I'm trying to use the Network utility under the Gnome environment in Fedora but just can't get it. Any help at this point would be great.

My hosts file looks like:
127.0.0.1 localhost panda

Any help would be great.

try to type dhcpcd as root

doesn't appear to fix the problem. I ran it in the background (&). any other ideas?

Did you looked at iwconfig?

No. Does that apply to a wired card? I'll look into it but my initial googles look like it's a wireless thing that i just wouldn't understand.

iwconfig is the wireless side of the force, ehhh no!!, the wireless side of ifconfig!! Sry i can't resist!

Does this mean you're unable to solve my problem?

ifconfig is a basic tool to configure ethernet cards.
iwconfig is a basic tool to configure wireless cards.
