DHCP just isn't working!

I recently installed the 2.4 linux kernel; but when I boot it DHCP can not find me an IP (or whatever it does), and so therefore I can't use the internet. Fortunatly, LILO allows me to boot into an older install (with the 2.2 kernel), but DHCP works perfectly in it, and I can connect to the internet with no problems (obviously, since I'm posting here...)

Have any of you had this problem before in the past? And even if not; do any of you have any suggestions on how to fix it?

(Btw; I use ISC's DHCP client; I believe.)

Ok; failing that, does anyone know how to configure DHCP?
