DHCP has some "empty" active leases
Hello LQers.
This is not really a problem, just something I would like to understand better. My server is Linux Mandrake Multi-Network Firewalll (Mandy's server Linux, no GUI). Kernel 2.4.18-8. I am running a DHCP server that services 14-26 clients (depending on the day.) In my DHCP subnet information log, it shows my 14 active clients with the following information: IP address, Lease status (active or free), Lease start (if applicable), Lease end (if applicable), MAC Address, DNS Name, WINS name. Normal entries are either IP Address and Lease Status=Free, OR IP Address, Lease status Active, Lease Start and End wtih today's date, A MAC adress, and WINS name. My question is about the many entries that are in there filled in like this: IP Address, Lease status=Active, Lease start=31/12/1969, Lease end=Never, MAC Address=none, DNS and WINS name=None. What are they and how do I get rid of them? Thanks. |
