Unhappy Dhcp begin at startup?

Hello, I have just installed and configured a dhcp server with Red hat 8. I have been manually starting the dhcp server to automatically hand out the i.p addresses through the terminal. Can anyone tell me how to make it autostart everytime the system reboots.????? thanks.

The easiest way is to add the command to /etc/rc.d/rc.local. that script runs after all other startup scripts are run.

check this command and see what you get. RedHat uses initd scripts, which is the prefered way mostly due to runlevel changes.

chkconfig dhcpd on

if it fails try this first, then try it again.

chkconfig --add dhcpd
