dhclient gets lease but can't connect to the net
I have installed Mandrake 9.2 on an old K6 box to teach my girlfriend Linux on. I am having problems setting up the network though. I ran Mandrake's network wizard, and it couldn't figure out the network settings of eth1.
So I ran dhclient from the console, and it got an IP address on eth1. And I could successfully get ifconfig to list the network cards and it says that the IP address I got via dhclient was bound to eth1.
But pinging any IP address / hostname both on my network and on the internet didn't work -- I got either an unknown host or host unreachable errors.
Anyone have any suggestions on troubleshooting? How would I go about harvesting settings from a Windows box as a last resort?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
