developing an ids using snort
 

hi
iam new to the world of network security and especially in linux.i need to design and implement an IDS using Snort but am absolutely cluless about it.
I have also registered my self and fished around in the snort website but to no avail.


kindly help me out and give me a few links to go about the whole affair.

I just installed a snort-doc package on my computer and printed out the manual which is pretty comprehensive. Also check the www.tldp.org web site for howto's. There is a book or two on snort in the bookstores also.
