destination host unreachable (mandrake)

just another simple networking question....

i live in dorms at my university and we are given primary/secondary dns, gateway, netmask, ip....i have prim/sec dns in my resolv.conf, netmask/ip in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0, gateway in /etc/sysconfig/network....

this should work (i think), but when i try to ping some ip (such as yahoo), i get "destination host unreachable"....i can ping my own ip

what can be the problem?

What distribution?

I assume your internet connection is not working at all.

Sounds like it has got an ip address for yahoo.com so your gateway setting is probably wrong.

Show us the output of ipconfig, route, and traceroute -d yahoo.com
