Destination Host Unreachable


Dear friends,

I have Linux computer who's IP address is 192.168.0.109 subnet is 255.255.255.0 and gateway is 192.168.0.1

192.168.0.1 is my windows server. I added this ip and servername in /etc/hosts file.

When i try to ping from Linux to Windows it says Destination Host Unreachable what could be the problem here pls help me

It sounds like a routing issue - can you post the output from:
ifconfig
route -n

It is probably because you have ipv6 enabled - what distribution are you using?

Just curios, the address in the ifconfig on eth0 is 32 bit, but what is interesting is that he has a TX count and no RX count........

To disable ipv6 just run:
echo "alias net-pf-10 off" >> /etc/modprobe.conf

As root and then reboot - see if it works then.

Dear david

i executed your suggestion echo "alias net-pf-10 off" >> /etc/modprobe.conf
and restarted the computer but it still gives the same problem.
