Angry Default DNS "homeland.net" mandrake 9.1

Hi,

I configured internet connection sharing on my Mandrake 9.1 box for my slow PPP connection.

All the clients seem to get a default domain name of "homeland.net". Where do i change this !?

The domain name is messing my internal network names cuz homeland.net is a valid public domain name!

Cheers
G.

If you used the Mandrake setup for your DNS server, you should be able to re-run the setup and assign the proper name.

cheers. Well I managed to edit /etc/dhcp.conf and it was in there. The settings only seem to take effect when i bring up my ppp connection. I',m afraid I just don't understand the DNS (dynamic ?) mechanism and how i can keep my settings after a ppp session is started.

If you don't need (10+ users) dhcp don't other with it. It is really something that is a pain. Go with static IP and your internet connection sharing should work without a hitch. Also you could setup a ppp connection and use iptables to firewall and nat. That is what I do and works fine I made a simple script to start ppp and the firewall.
