Hello, I am new to servers and Linux. I am think about converting my windows server into a Linux server for two reasons, hate microsoft and i support Linux and the Open Source movement. At the moment i have my windows server as a DSN server, domain controller, file server and to share internet between it and my main windows computer.
I was just wondering, is there and way i could install Debian, Ubuntu or Suse on my server and get it to:-
1. share internet between it and my windows computer,
2. allow me to set up a network drive on windows and access files on the second hard disk on the server,
3. allow me to a) remote desktop the server using windows, or b) allow me to use a web URL to access and download files from the internet using a windows computer.
If you know how to do this please could you tell me how and if any then the source code.
Thank for any help
Dan

a) If you're running X Windows on the server, Yes.
b) Yes.
You might like to try Webmin. It will be your friend while you're getting started with pretty much all of the above.
