In the past I had a static IP, I now have tried that and DHCP to no avail.
The linux machine can not be pinged and It can not ping anything outside.
I am not sure even what to try next.
upon checking the settings on the Uverse router I see it says that it's status is "off"
On the Debian start up I see it hunting for DHCP offers and it finally reports it receives none and moves on.
Perhaps Debian is blocking a service of some sort?
