Deactivate apache alias on traffic exceeding

Hi folks,

is there a way... well, I know there probably is, so how can I achieve the following automation:

- measure monthly network traffic
- deactivate a specific apache2 alias when traffic exceeds a specific value
- reactivate every new month (presumably by using cron) and reset measured traffic

Thanks a lot!

Cheers,
Hendrik

I think the term you're looking for is traffic accounting. If you search Sourceforge, the-site-formerly-known-as Freshmeat, Savannah.nongnu or Berlioz you're bound to find a lot of traffic accounting packages that can do or can be made to do what you want.
