Look in "man ppp" to se what that error code 16 means, and allso check /var/log/messages or whatever. Or better yet, on one console run "tail -f /var/log/messages" and on the other run WvDial and see what's happening.

Thanks. I did the "tail -f /var/log/messages" and in ecence obtained the following :
Carrier detected. Sarting PPP inmediatly.
Serial connection established.
Using interface ppp0.
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/ttyS0.
Remote message: User Domain missing/unknown/inhibited.
Chap authentication failed
Hang up (SIGHUP)
Modem hangup
Connection terminated

I verified the /etc/ppp/chap-secrets file and everything is ok.
I also tried a script in PERL for dialing from the console and the results are the same. Any suggestions? Thanks

What's your computer's hostname? Maybe that's what your ISP doesn't like... (User domain missing/unknown/inhibited)
