D-link WNA-2330 RangeBooster G not "Boosting"

Greetings fellow nixers,
I purchased a D-link WNA-2330 RangeBooster wireless card for my laptop. Unfortunately the rangebooster aspect of the card doesn't appear to be working quite the way I expected it to. I also have an internal B card, which a vast majority of the time has stronger signal than the rangebooster. I know that there are windows drivers to activate the rangebooster, however I have been unable to locate information on accessing the boosting feature of this card. I am running Ubuntu 8.04 and below is the lspci for the card

Code:
$ lspci | grep Atheros
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5212/AR5213 Multiprotocol MAC/baseband processor (rev 01)
any ideas as to how to go about boosting the output power besides a booster antenna?

Thanks in advance!

You have tried 'iwconfig <i/face> txpower max' or simply start 10dB above your current power
iwconfig wlan0 txpower 70

for 70dB and just keep going up by 10. Somewhere, it will hit a ceiling. With high tx power comes the need for high txpower on the other end, or ultra sensitive reception. Only so much is possible there.
