Cool CVS Login Problem

Hello Everyone,

I had installed cvs-1.11.20-1.2 rpm file.

rpm -ivh /path/*.rpm --relocate /usr/bin=/tcil/bin

When ever i login in to cvs with my cvsuser i am facing the following problem

cvs [login aborted]: connect to [localhost]:2401 failed: Connection refused

here is my cvpsserver configuration :
service cvspserver
{
disable = no
socket_type = stream
protocol = tcp
user = root
wait = no
server = /tcil/bin/cvs
server_args = -f --allow-root=/home/cvs/repository pserver
log_on_success +=USERID
log_on_failure += USERID
}
and in etc/profile i had given
CVSROOT="server:$USER@localhost:/home/cvs/repository"
i had created two users cvs,cvs1 and cvs as group
can any one please help me.

I am sorry if i post this thread in wrong place.

Thanks in Advance
Vishal

Hi -

Try the (most excellent!) suggestions here:
Quote:
http://www.network-theory.co.uk/docs...onnection.html

Errors along the lines of "connection refused" typically indicate that inetd isn't even listening for connections on port 2401 whereas errors like "connection reset by peer", "received broken pipe signal", "recv() from server: EOF", or "end of file from server" typically indicate that inetd is listening for connections but is unable to start CVS (this is frequently caused by having an incorrect path in ‘inetd.conf’ or by firewall software rejecting the connection). "unrecognized auth response" errors are caused by a bad command line in ‘inetd.conf’, typically an invalid option or forgetting to put the ‘pserver’ command at the end of the line. Another less common problem is invisible control characters that your editor "helpfully" added without you noticing. One good debugging tool is to "telnet servername 2401"...
<= Definitely read the article; definitely try the "telnet localhost 2401" test!
I'd also check your firewall and selinux configurations.

And, of course, make sure you've a) restarted inetd, and b) that you really have an executable "cvs" in /tcil/bin

'Hope that helps .. PSM
