I have a Suse 10 box and a XP Professional SP 1 box. I have Samba installed on the linux box. So I went on the XP box and created a network named MSHOME.
After I did that, I could see the linux box from the windows box. I was able to access the shared files and printers.
I went back to the Linux box and I can see MSHOME under the samba shares. I click that and I see the two machines.
But when I attempt to go into the windows box from the linux box I get an error that reads:
"Could not connect to host for smb://joshua-qjgn0835/"
Ok so I went into konquerer and typed in smb://192.168.1.101/
In doing so I was able to access the computer but it only showed two folders, C$ and SharedDocs, no printers or anything I was expecting.

Have you added a line to /etc/hosts to map 192.168.1.101 to joshua-qjgn0835 ?
It would look like this for /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.101 joshua-qjgn0835
For the printer it will not showup here, use cups to install printer.
One note. If you start mapping machines it is best to use static IP's instead of dynamic IP's. This way machines will always have the same IP when they start up.
Hmm well it would have helped but seems things have changed.
I do have static IPs, so thats not a problem. Umm well I typed in smb://192.168.1.101 and now it asks me for a username and password to access those folders.
Well as an update I restarted the Linux box into winders xp. After much agony and toiling I finally got that network going. I can access the other pc and see the shared printer and whatnot. So I figured, hey maybe I did something on that other computer during this trial that will make it work. I rebooted into linux but to no avail. I still get the same message!
I don't think Konqueror has the ability to show shared printers. Smb4K does if you want to try that. From what I've read, in Suse 10 you need to use KDEPrint to set up printing to a printer shared by Windows. Ask in the Suse forum for help with that: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...splay.php?f=60
Well I did some stuff, I'm not quite sure what fixed it. I tried turning off my firewall on the linux box and I was able to access the windows share. So I just added the IP to the firewall so I could access it. Now it works... All I have to do is set up the shared printer like you told me earlier!
