Correct entry for local machine in /etc/hosts

Hi all,

I am having trouble configuring /etc/hosts properly on my Fedora Core 3 system.
Let's say my box is called abc.

From what I have read, this line is indespensible:
Code: abc localhost.localdomain localhost
However, is is possible to modify this so that messages sent using mail on the command line don't have mylogin@localhost.localdomain as sender? I would prefer either the domain of my isp,, or my own domain, which is not hosted on my pc but at my web hosting service.

The /etc/hosts file just translates hostnames to IP addresses. So localhost translates to You can add other servers like myhost

To change the hostname, edit the /etc/sysconfig/network file.
