Connecting Windows boxes via Linux server
Hello all!
Here's my situation:
I have two Windows boxes (2000 and XP Pro) and one Linux (Slackware 10.0) server at home.
The Linux box has two network cards, which are seen by the system. One is eth0, the other eth1.
What I would like to do is to connect one Windows box to one NIC, the second one to another NIC and make these two computers connected via Linux box "see" each other - ping, share resources etc.
One of the Windows boxes (2000) is connected to an ADSL Internet line (hopefully not for long, because I would like Linux to take over this duty) and it has the following IP: 10.0.0.1
The other Windows box is 10.0.0.111 and the Linux box is 10.0.0.10.
The network mask for all the machines is 255.255.255.0.
My questions are:
- how do I make it possible and what is it called - is it routing, masquarading, bridging?
- should each of the NICs have a different IP address assigned to it?
Should any more details be necessary, please let me know. I'll provide them as soon as possible.
Regards to all!
