Connecting to network and router by USB

I am trying to connect to a wireless network router by USB. The product is a 2wire device sold in the UK as BT wireless 1250 but I think is home portal in the US

The problem seems to be getting Linux to recognise that this device which is connected through USB is a network device. Whenever I try to configure DSL I am told that no network card is seen.

I am running knoppix from a CD. If I am successful with this then I will go for a hard disk installation.

Thanks
