Connecting to mydomain.com which's located on local network - CANT!

Ok here's the network layout:

User -> Router -> Internet.

mydomain.com points to the network's external IP. Router (linux iptables) is running apache and serving on port 80.

I can access mydomain.com just fine from outside network and view the website. I can also access the website from internal network by using 192.168.0.1 (router's internal IP).

BUT! I cannot access website by mydomain.com from internal network. It just hangs.

Somebody told me that an easy work around is to edit /etc/hosts and add mydomain.com for 192.168.0.1, but I wanted to check with you guys before trying this on the client's machine.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Edit /etc/hosts should do it, but not positive. The reason and I am assuming this is one of those store bought routers is because they do not do DNAT - Destination Natting very well but limited if available. With a linux router one can add one iptable command and it would work for all. You can get a start to understand from this post. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...72#post1944372

Ok turns out that the problem was this:

Network layout was not what I thought it was. It was this:

User -> Iptables router -> Idiotic hardware router -> Internet.

The hardware router is set to forward all ports to the inside, but instead, when we try to access port 80 from the inside, it opens up its own control panel.
