connecting to internet

i am trying to connect to the net, and i have kppp working fine, it was rather easy, but when i try and go on the internet, specifically to an website the upload is never made and i can never seem to go on the net even though the connection with kppp is made. i try and go to mandriva control center and connect there but then the connection is never made. i have an external modem us robotics v.92 and i can't get on the net ???

what the hell is wrong with this???

Can you ping any internet address?
I remember that there was a thread with the same problem to yours, search it
