Connecting to firewalled SSH server
At work on my Mac OS X machine I can SSH in to my Ubuntu box at home no problem.
I can't SSH into my mac at work though because obviously the router at work isn't going to forward incoming connections on port x to my specific IP, regardless of how much I plead to my network admin.
VPN may be the solution, but if PPTP passthrough is disabled on the router is this even an option? Is this security function of routers just blocking port 1723 or really disabling the protocol?
Is there a way to modify destination IP address for data packets to an internal network address? Or maybe I should explore my options with VPN more?

Just answered a post like yours a few minutes ago.
Just setup a redirect from the mac to home machine and when you get home just ssh to the port you created.
