connecting linux SUSE10.3 to internet via ethernet switch
 
Hello,

I installed newly SUSE 10.3 baside windows VISTA already exists and I want to have access to the internet through the windows network. My windows is connected to the internet via ethernet switch via. I have the configuration of the windows with a fixed IP address and LAN sitting is congigured with a script.

CAN I CONNECT SUSE10.3 WITH THIS AVAILABLE CONNECTON AND HOW?

Setting the ip address/subnet mask on the interface that connects to your network should be all you have to do (assuming your distro has the modules it needs for your nic). From the command line, you could try using "ifconfig", or if you are using something like kde, you could use KNetworkConf.

use 'yast' --> network devices --> network card

is your 'switch' a router, or do you use dialup internet in windows ?

please provide some more info...

You didn't provide detailed infos about your NW topology.

I'm guessing ... you have a router which is connected to w WIN box and to a Linux box. Then you should be able to connet to the internet with WIN and LIN ;-)
