Connecting existing Windows Machines to Linux Server

Currently have a Windows 2000 Server. In process for migrating services over to Linux Redhat 7.2 server. Currently users are logging in to Windows domain using Social Security Number and password with changes every 30 days. Redhat will not allow a username with all digits as far as I can tell. Have created test accounts in Windows / Redhat with both alpha and numeric, it all works perfectly. Short of changing all login names, is there a solution.
