Connecting an alternate proxy

I am able to connect to a linux machine which can connect to a proxy server for internet browsing. The problem in that I am not able to connect to the proxy server directly because the DNS server at my end does not allow me to do so. Is there a way by which I can connect to the proxy server by someway fooling the DNS server?

PS - My reasoning is , since I am able to connect to the linux machine which can connect to the proxy server I should be able to connect to the proxy server !

The proxy server does a great job of isolating pcs from the internet.
It probably has rules to accept only known pcs, either by MAC address or ip number.
If this is in a University setup, I would expect there to be several other controls as well..
eg HTTP headers, TTLs & passive tracking.
There is a lot of pc specific info sent while browsing..

Connecting to the proxy server through another pc is possible, it's called masquerading
That would need to be set up on the intermediate pc..
