Connecting 2 linux boxes with out a hub.

Hi,
For past few days I was trying to post. But it never worked.
Though I have a long question, I am making it short since I have
bad exp. of typing in long questions and then not being able to
post.
Ok, My question is, Is it possible to connect 2 linux boxes
directly by ethernet cables?. I always had to use a hub for this.
changing bw params does not help.
(Let me try posting this!).

AFAIK you can, but you have to use a crossover cable. It looks like a normal CAT-5 cable, but is wired up differently.

Thanks for the reply.
I just read about it from google and saw the connections there.
Now I know why it dosen't work in normal cases.

Also my last post was made in a hurry. So I really forgot to thank
trickykid who helped me with my posting problem. Thanks a lot tricky!.
