Question Connect to internet with special options: how?

Hello.

I have a problem here. I wanna connect to the internet, but not with DHCP (it won't work, it is no public connection). I know the IP adress of the server, the gateway adress, the subnet mask and the DNS too. I used the dpkg -reconfigure etherconf config prog, but it doesn't work. What can I do? I use Debian testing/unstable and KDE, and wanna connect with the ethernet card. Thanks.
