Confused! Which squid.conf to use?

The "Squid - Quick Start Guide" is pointing to usr/local/squid/etc as the default location of squid.conf. The System configuration in Webmin is pointing to /etc/squid as the path to squid.conf. I was able to locate both of them but got confused which one to use. Even to start and stop squid, the "Squid - Quick Start Guide" is pointing to different path than Webmin.
Is this normal? and, which one I have to use?

hi there

maybe the squid installation guide is refering to the case if u have installed squid from source in /usr/local

if u have squid.conf in /etc./ use that only

In fact, I downloaded the file squid-2.5.STABLE7.tar.gz and I followed the instructions in "Squid - Quick Start Guide" to install it. It is mentioned in the guide to untar the file by entering the following command "tar -xvf squid-*-src.tar.gz". But I didn't know whether the "src" in the untar command, that doesn't exist in the file that I downloaded, would make any difference. So, I entered "tar -xvzf squid-2.5.STABLE7.tar.gz and followed all of the instructions in the guide and I was able to surf the Internet from other computers. D|o you think anything went wrong or am I ok?
