confused e100 on 2.6.8.1
Hello all,
Have been having a terrible time trying to get my head around this. I have e100 running perfectly under 2.6.3 and have tried to set it up 2.6.8.1 but to no avail. Everything seems fine, but after a few minutes, the network freezes up and I need to restart? During start up everything is detected and initialised correctly. I have compiled the drivers into the kernel (rather than modules) and they are correctly used? Anyone have an insight into this ... what have I done wrong here! Thanks for your help. |
I don't think that you've done anything wrong, but I do think that you're jumping the entire shoot-out, not just the gun. If there isn't a reason that you need to have the very latest kernel version, you should probably expect to find a few unironed bugs in the latest WIP releases. I would just hang back until the next version of the kernel in question came out.
But if you're like some people I know, and absolutely have to have the latest and greatest, you could double check all your kernel dependencies, or maybe try compiling the network driver as a module instead of it being built-in. It sounds trivial, but I've had it fix a few problems before. Like I said, don't stress out over the latest kernel not playing nicely. |
