Confused by Windows printer sharing, any comments?

I have been having a bit of trouble getting my SuSE 9.0 box to print to a HP Deskjet 810c that is shared over a windows xp pro box, I know the IP address of the computer it is shared from and all that, but when I try to set it up, it tells me that it is not the proper queue name, anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

you need samba, cups, and foomatic.... I'm not sure about SUSE, but there should be some docs available... if not, there's a good guide @ gentoo.org/doc/en/, most of the stuff that mentions emerge is gentoo-specific, most of the other stuff is not. the driver you need should be listed at linux-printing.org (or linuxprinting.org, can't remember)

I have all that installed... I think it's just a matter of figuring out what the name of the queue on the windows machine actually is, is there a way that I can look this up anywhere. There is a simple printer install wizard in YaST but I can't figure out the queue name, so therefore I am getting nowhere

here is a guide. it's debian based, but generic enough that you should be able to use it.

good luck.

if i remember correctly, there were only a couple of commands from the terminal , to check for and setup, (if the check returns negative) the samba backend for cups. after that it was easy enough to set up the printer from the kde print manager.
good luck.
