Configuring Mac OS X clients with Samba Server

I'm using Suse 9.2 Pro as my server and I have Samba working. Windows is able to access the Samba shares just fine but when it comes to Mac on OSX, they have a hard time. A file that is too large in filesize will get kicked off the server. I know that many people use Samba to communicate to Macs so I was wondering how I configure Samba so that Mac OS X doesn't keep getting kicked off. Does a newer version of Samba solve this problem because I think that I might have one that's out of date.

Are you seeing anything strange in the samba log files dealing with the disconnections? I'm using samba on linux and grabbing files with it using samba clients on OS X all the time at home and I never see any kind of disconnections.

Im not sure it should make a difference, but I have samba 3.0.5 on my OS X machines (the version coupled with MacOS 10.3.8) and samba 3.0.10 on my linux machine.

Where do I go to find the log files so that I can check it?

I know this is a very old post, but I'm hoping to get some support for my problem.

I have a Ubuntu Server with Samba installed. My Windows Clients are able to login to the server at startup. But I really don't know how to do this with a mac.

Is it even possible to login to samba on startup (e.g. logging in with samba username and sharing settings on Samba)?
