Configuring Linux for static ip


Hi
We have a linux machine connected in a domain network.The domain has a router connected to it.Can anyone plz tell me

1..I need to set up a static IP for the linux machine so that it is accesible(via http) from everywhere,(outside the network)

hi there!
it's as easy as typing

ifconfig <your nic id (like eth0)> <your ip address>

Hi Saravanan,

I believe your Linux machine is behind the router, In that case can you please confirm whether you want assign a private LAN IP or public ?
If it is a private LAN IP , You have to configure the router to do port forwarding so that the http packets that reach the router will be forwarding it to your Linux machine?
While as Barman stated ifconfig <your nic id (like eth0)> <your ip address> is the easiest method of assigning the ip address.
