configuring dns server on dhcp client

Hi

I am sys admin in an organisation, here my system is cfg'ed as dhcp client. For the same system i want to make it has DNS server [ using the ip provided by the dhcp server ] "is it possible to have this as DNS server". Because we already have an DNS server. In our main block.

If i disable the dhcp, have the ip address say 172.16.33.61 i can do this system as DNS server without any problem and also " dig " the server it without any problem [ with answer 1 ].

But the other systems Windows 2000 proff are configured as dhcp client of the organisation, but my system and the others are connected through LAN. When I browse in IE with IP of me DNS server I am getting the Web page of my DNS server home page [ ie : index.html ] but when I browse with Domain name getting an error " page cannot be displayed "

Can any one solve my problem.

Thanks in Advance

IIRC, you cannot host a DNS server on a box withou a static IP, at least with Windows 2000. The reason is simple: you need to be able to configure clients to with the IP address of your DNS server, which you can't do if it's always changing.

Hi,
I also removed the dynamic IP and have given the Static Ip address as 172.16.33.61/255.255.0.0

And even cannot browse it in other system using the domainname.com, but i can browse it using IP address htt://172.16.33.61 in the other systems. As i configured the Apache in my linux box .

Thanks in advance
