Configuring an ISA Ethernet Card in Slackware 8.0

I recently obtained an old 486, and have set about installing Slackware 8.0 on it. Everything has gone well except for the net access. The NIC is an old 3COM ISA card. When booting, I get an error message about "Address family not found" and "Socket family not supported".

Any help would be appreciated.

What is the model number on the card?

Is it in this list:
/usr/src/linux/drivers/net# ls 3c*
3c501.c 3c503.h 3c505.h 3c509.c 3c523.c 3c527.c 3c59x.c
3c503.c 3c505.c 3c507.c 3c515.c 3c523.h 3c527.h
