Configure Linux VPN Server for a Windows VPN Client
 

I use SuSE 10 at the office, and my boss wants to have a VPN access, using Windows, from his home.

He wants to be able to access the network as if he would be here physically. He wants to access the samba shares, he wants to be able to print on a Samsung printer (works with linux) and so on.

I'll appreciate if somebody can tell me links to a relatively new HowTo (iptables) that explains me how to do this

Easiest way is to use Openvpn which is UDP based, only uses a single port (6000) and has a Windows client program with a GUI to ease configuration.

openvpn.net for the program and openvpn.se for the windows GUI.

Hiya,

As far as I understand it, PPTP is flawed not because the protocol is bad but Microsoft's implementation of it is so it's best avoided.

IPSec is OK but it takes a fair bit of effort to get OpenSwan or FreeSwan talking to windows.

I haven't heard anything particularly dodgy about OpenVPN and the GUI would make it easy for your boss to run.
