@corp769 this is linuxquestions.org not grumpytrolls.com (which is available by the way)
Obviously you:
1) have not searched for this topic
2) don't know the answer to the question
Anyhow, Samba is as finicky as the TSA on a grumpy morning..
Here is one short/incomplete tutorial that might help:
ghacks.net/2009/12/25/configure-samba-with-gadmin-samba/
This is the motherlode so start digging.
samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/
Good luck.
Hi and welcome to LinuxQuestions,
If you've read the LQ Rules you might have notice one mentioning that you shouldn't expect the LQ users to do your homework for you. I'm not saying the OP posted a homework question but the meaning of the rule I'm referring to is that if you search yourself you'll learn a lot more then asking for ready made solutions here.
On the other hand, I think you've set a record in gently 'insulting' someone who has far more time and posts put in here at LQ on your first post. I hope you refer from this behavior in the future.
Looking forward to your, adapted, participation in the forums. Have fun with Linux.
Seeing as how that is your first post, I guess you don't understand these forums much. These forums are strictly volunteer, first of all. Second of all, read the following - http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
Seeing as how the OP asked a generic question, also his first post, he doesn't know the best way to ask a question. Me saying to please search first before posting is asked all the time here, especially when this topic has been covered numerous times already. Lastly, how am I being a troll? Surely if I was a troll, I wouldn't be at guru level, with over 850 rep. Just pointing out the facts!
So I am sorry if I have "offended" you, but remember one thing - You can not see emotion via some simple text, so therefore, how could what I stated offend you in the first place, especially when you took the time to create an account just to call me a troll? Just some more facts to think about..... But I am here to help and not troll like other people on these forums. I like to stick with the truth and to be honest and loyal. Hope what I have pointed out will make you think a bit before you post again.

At one post only, I sure goman now feels really happy about trying to be a member of the Linux community.
You said read the rules?
" ...
1-Do not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.
2-Personal attacks on others will not be tolerated.
3-Flame Wars will not be tolerated.
4-Do not post if you do not have anything constructive to say in the post.
5-When posting in an existing thread, ensure that what you're posting is on-topic and relevant to the thread. If the content of your post will interfere with the current discussion, you should start a new thread.
..."
re: #5 - Your second post does NOT contribute to this thread
re: #4 - Neither post of yours contributed anything constructive
re: #3 - 2 posts specifically adressing two other members' POST, not the thread content
re: #2 - Not much other way to view your second post
re: #1 - Well, that's about the only way anyone gets kicked, usually, so even you would learn not to do that.
At least Taiger made a passing attempt at answering the question.
'cheers' does not make it OK and not insulting
'troll' is quite appropriate - someone that looks for an opportunity to contribute nothing.
I came am here looking for guidance, and found this, and others like it, completely disheartening that to find a nugget of info, one has to search through literally dozens of similar threads before finding one with serious info.
NOT in the spirit on Linux. NOT like it was 20 years ago the FIRST time I installed a Linux kernel.
Guru? - is that just a post count indicator? Whatever, you were no help, here. No one felt enlightebed.
me? ... I'll keep looking for an answer, but I really doubt I will ever find that it was provided by corp769.
And maybe this makes me somewhat like a troll, but maybe not.
I taught both my boys to keep their mouths shut if they had nothing to contribute. I'm 60. Been retired a long time. But I can still put my finger on a breakdown and point out a better way to behave. If YOU learn this, then I will feel I contributed something.
(In the meantime, the 'similar threads' offered by LQ offered less advice than this post. At least Taiger made an attempt. Those sites were already in my open tabs when I looked at this search hit. So ... LQ gave me nothing. Not the first time. Even so, I'll be back. If you, corp769, care about LQ and its quality - give the answer first, and maybe a small chiding at the conclusion. Just beating your kids when they err will not give them what they need to be successful. It will only teach them to not err. The only way to not make a mistake is to do nothing.)
