Post Configure 2 Squid Servers

Hi Frnds !

My setup is as under where (42 & 41 are Real ip address of my server):

Present Setup

Sending Request:
Network Users -> 42 Squid Caching Server -> Router = Internet

Receiving Request:
Internet -> Router ->42 Squid Caching Server = Network Users
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have one squid caching server which is running on my network (42 Squid Caching Server) which work properly,
now I want to install another new Caching server (41 Squid Caching Server).
As per my networking knowledge I want a setup where (41) & (42) both Caching Server should work, Or (41) and (42) works as individual Caching Server too. Still making more clear as under

The New Setup the way I want:

Sending :
Network Users -> 42 Squid Caching Server(GATEWAY ON 41) -> 41 Squid Caching Server -> Router = Internet

Receiving:
Internet -> Router -> 41 Squid Caching Server -> 42 Squid Caching Server = Network User

OR

Sending:
Network Users -> 41 Squid Caching Server -> Router = Internet

Receiving:
Internet -> Router -> 41 Squid Caching Server = Network Users

EITHER OR

Sending:
Network Users -> 42 Squid Caching Server -> Router = Internet
Receiving:
Internet -> Router -> 42 Squid Caching Server = Network Users

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have installed a squid on (41). I am sure that the new server which I installed it is not working properly and I donít know what file changes are needed bcos (42 is NOT INSTALLED OR CONFIGURED by me).

i know only 2 files (1) Squid.Conf & (2) rc.local.

Eagerly looking for the solution.
Thank You,
Brains.

You need to provide more information than "it's not working on the server I installed it on" since that, alone, doesn't give any useful info.

Does squid start on the 41 box? What versions of squid are you using? Are you wanting to make the 42 box a cache peer to the 41 box? There is a LOT of great information on configuring squid on the squid website. There is online doc there that describes various squid configurations and yours might be covered there.

If you are getting any errors from squid on the 41 box, post them so we can see what's up. If the connection between the squid proxy on 42 and on 41 isn't working, I suggest reading over the doc on the squid site to see if you have both proxies setup correctly.

Did you build squid on the 41 box from source or did you install a pre-built RPM or something?

Peace...
