Common telephone dialers?

What are some common telephone dialer programs that normally ship with most flavors of Linux? I currently have Vector installed on a system, and intend to soon port another system to Debian. Upon changing ISP's, my current one only really requires that I dial a number to establish a PPP connection. What are some common utilities that are used to dial numbers and establish PPP connections? I'm most interested in the command line utilities that ship with most distributions.
