just check the documentation on cisco.com for any relevant device. ios can behave very differently device to device based on the feature set you have to play with. also whilst it may seem a bit familiar, it's really very very different as it's wholly centric around the device in use, not a generic computer platform. what do you actually want to get out of this?

Check out my posting. This should clarify my question.

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=481312

I need to learn about Cisco 2960 Catalyst switch. I will be recieving a new switch tommorrow and have never setup a new switch. I have to create three VLANs and connect them to a IWS wireless mesh unit. There is 1721 router that is already configured and connected to the network. Basically I need a over night crash course on the Cisco switch and the IOS!

well download the whole 2960 manual from cisco.com then, but you do have a web server on the device as well as direct IOS CLI. when the device is new it'll also run through a setup wizard on the console that will get it into a basic usable state. adding vlans and things on the web interface is very simple, but hopefully you'll naturally want to edge more towards the pure IOS side when you're more comfortable. despite being hefty tomes, the manuals are actually very simple to use, and always have a similar structure across models, with very simple guides as you go along. i'm not aware of any specific crash course guides, but i'm happy to help with the detailed configuration if i can.
