CIPE & Fedora Core 1

I have a linux router/firewall at home which runs Fedora Core 1. It's connects my 10.*.*.* network to the Internet via a (crappy) Alcatel USB modem. At work I have another Fedora machine doing the same, also with a 10.*.*.* network. I can connect to both machines only via SSH, so I can't use any graphical tools.
I've been trying to establish a CIPE tunnel between the two so I can access network servers at work from home. But I can't get it to work, dispite following the relevant howto. Does anybody know what I should do?

TIA, Rogier

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, both networks only actually use the 10.0.0.* range, so I though I'd use the 10.1.*.* range for CIPE tunnels. If I can get it to work I expect to be connecting several other people this way.
