checking network traffic by particular process


Hi All,
Is there any way in Linux (SUSE) to check how much network traffic is generated by particular process?

Not by process but you can by port with tcpdump. Since port is usually restricted to a given application you can probably find out what you need to know by finding which ports are used (lsof -p <pid> will show you all filehandles open for a given PID including the ports).

For more information run "man tcpdump" to see man page.
