Changing Subnet on Linksys Router

I am running a Linksys BEFSR41 and am wondering if there is a way to manually set the subnet for the Routing part of the router? My school uses the subnet of 255.255.240.0 and I was told that I would be able to browse the shares on the network if I set my subnet to the same thing. The router only allows some specific predefined ones... is there a way to change them?

Thanks

It's built into the router firmware to be that way.

I'm also not sure that just setting the router to have the same netmask would do any good. I would think you would need SMB packets to cross the bridge, and they're usually dropped by routers.
