I just want to thank everyone who helps in linuxquestions.org. It's helped me out in many different ways.

What my problem is.

I have Cox cable modem and they block port 25 both ways. Plus they block port 80 going out.

I'm trying to get a web server up and running with out the cost of a business account. I need to have port 25 running too for my SMTP mail server on the same machine.

What I want to do is configure Apache 2.2 to receive HTTP on port 80 and it is by default. I need it to send out my HTTP on a different port like 81 or 8080 to someone who is at my URL www.spucke.com. I don't want to put www.spucke.com:80 or www.spucke.com:8080 that looks bad for advertisement on my URL.

I was thinking about using www.tzo.com for a static IP since I have DHCP from Cox.

I might be wrong about something here let me know please. Maybe you know a better way or can help me a little about how to configure Apache to get around my problem.

Is www.tzo.com a good way to get a public static IP or does anyone know of a free service?

If I forgot something just let me know.

Any help would be great. I'm willing to link exchange URL's for Google promotion and/or web traffic if you know what I mean.

I don't see on Tzo's website where they provide a static IP. I see where they provide dynamic DNS service or even port forwarding in a case where port 80 is closed (like your case). Both require you to spend money on it.

I would suggest going with a webhosting service. This way you avoid having a url like spucke.com:8080 and you don't have to pay for forwarding service. Hosting services are also going to have much better uptime than a cable connection. There are many that are cheaper than tzo as well.

Most services also provide email at no extra cost so you won't have to deal with forwarding of your port 25 as well.

Thanks for the replies guy's. Yea I think I might be better off with a hosting service. I'm going to look into finding a cheap but good one.

The one I use is hostek.com I get a discount because I use it for a church so I'm not sure on their true rates. I'm sure a google search will come up with more for you.
