We are going to change ISP (and get 4x speed for half of money), and changing our present sysadmin is also involved.
So we will have to do the change on our own.
Could you give me some hints what we have to change in order for the new connection to come up?
Is it just replacing the router and everything works as before, or do we have to 'teach' the new router our network topology?
In the second case, which is the best information material for green newbies in routing on the web?
if the change would only affect your ISP connection, then what u need to change are the settings that is related to that side of your network. ur network topology needs no modification (well, the way i see it) if u'll just change the gateway and DNS IP addresses for ur new ISP cnxcion.
1)Ofcorse you will need change your router external ip and if you will have big subnet ... you will must change routing ... and check your firewall setings - some port forwarding etc
2)if you have some web server or mail server then you will need to contact width new ISP hostmaster to change DNS records
I think for first step that's all
Ofcorse if you have now some Highspeed i-net then you can make shape for some users or departments!
