Changing hostname in FC5

The host name on this computer with FC5 is localhost - that was the default during installation.
I think I need to change the name as I want create a network with at least 1 other computer.
The problem is when I do this I just cannot get the printer to work , if I change the name.

The printer is an HP PSC1315 using hplip .
( the specific problem which appears is this ... if I do not change the name and do ps ax | grep hp two services hpiod and hpssd are shown to be running . After changing the name only one hpiod appears.

In Christopher Negus's book the Linux Bible for Fedora core 4 a similar problem is mentioned under host name . He suggests that nothing short of reinstallation will cure the problem.

Is there a work around . I can try many things as I have taken a partition image using
dd.

Much easier to upgrade to latest HPLIP

The current version of HPLIP (2.7.10) does not have startup daemons, so if you upgraded to it, this issue should be resolved. Be sure to completely remove the old HPLIP if you decide to try this.
